"The spark that would eventually compel me to write this bizarre story began on my honeymoon, in Jamaica, in 1994. I purchased a beautiful, ornate, black onyx ring from a street merchant at our resort. It was just another gift from me to my wife to celebrate this special moment in our lives. It was not until after I returned to our bungalow and gave her the ring that we discovered what was so special about it. The centerpiece, the heart-shaped stone, could be retracted. Behind the stone was a hollow compartment. Unknowingly, I had given my wife a poison ring. From time to time, I could only imagine if the ring had once been used to secretly kill a king. I also knew that I better treat my wife with love & respect, or else."
"My initial and raw ideas for my story first came to light in 1999. I knew then that "EXHUMED" would be the title of my story. I was compelled to write a book of historical fiction that was based on the lives of both famous and ordinary people. In the process of writing, some parts of the book became so dark that I had to step back from the project and write another story that was lighthearted and humorous. After "Diggin' Elroy"was published, I was determined to finish the story I started."
EXHUME defined -
- To dig out of the earth & revive after a period of forgetting
- To bring to light
"EXHUMED" is not a tale about digging up bodies from the graveyard. It's a story about uncovering the truth, and how far some of us are willing to go to find it."
